hi Nina,
Have you setup the voicemail ? You could hold button 1 for few seconds, the voicemail by default should show up.

Your voicemail number should be your 10 digit phone number.

When you have a voicemail what happens when you try and retrieve it? Since you are on prepaid your plan would need to include calling minutes or have a calling booster if you have the text only plan.

If the system asks for your mailbox number when you call your voicemail it typically means the wrong VM access number is programed into the phone. If you contact koodo tech support they should be able to resolve it. In the meantime, calling your own number from the cellphone should get you through to the right server allowing you to check your voicemail.

You can also call your own cell number from any other phone without using plan minutes: hit the star key once the VM recording starts playing and enter your PIN when prompted.

The actual phone number your cell calls to check voicemail is typically something like +1###5804001 where ### is your home area code. You can see it, but maybe not change it, in the Voicemail settings on most Android phones. As Timo says, Koodo tech support will probably reset or supply you the settings to use on your phone. Easiest to use Facebook or Twitter to contact them since this is not a five alarm fire and you have workarounds above.
