Why cant i activate my tab plan online if im a new customer

I just bought a lg k4 from Walmart, and I was hoping to get the new tab plan but the sales rep said they cant activate phones there, that id be ablw to set it up online for free. But i cant set up a tab plan wihout already being a koodo customer because I need a koodo number to register for self serve. Can someone please help me with this? (i get a free 20$ activation credit if its done online-not looking to call them or goto a store)

If you bought a prepaid phone at Walmart the 20$ credit is for new prepaid activations anyway and not for regular monthly customers.

If you want to activate the phone on a monthly postpaid plan, you'll need to get a Monthly SIM from a kiosk or other retailer (best buy) and activate your service on that sim.

My boyfriend just bought a 100$alcatel from walmart under koodo and it worked for him. I wanted to do the same the only difference is i got a 100$ lg phone.

So you'll need a post paid sim and the 20$ credit won't apply to you. You'll also need to undergo a credit check. You will have to call in to activate after you get the propper sim.

I'm not sure you understand what the Tab is (if you do, I apologize for assuming you didn't, lol). You don't need a Tab because you just purchased a phone outright. A Tab is a way to pay off a new phone in stages, that's all.

If you are serious about signing up with Koodo with a Tab plan, you are best off to take this phone back and have your money refunded, the Tab has usually better prices for phones because you commit yourself long term.

Then go back to a Koodo store and tell them you want to sign up with a POSTPAID plan, the rep will most definitely be able to sign you up, it's what they are there for. Bring two pieces of ID with you and pick a spiffy phone to go with it.

Or if you do indeed already have a postpaid SIM card and you're happy with your phone purchase, call in as Chad suggested.
