My text messages from my online scheduling system are always delayed until I activate my data plan. As I rarely use data, sometimes the texts don't come through until several days later. My other texts seems to come through no problem, whether or not I've enabled data or wi-fi. But the ones from this one particular place, the most important ones as they relate to my business ONLY come through when data is on. The short answer would be to leave data on, but I don't have much data on my plan and don't want to accidentally go over my limit. I'm using an Android phone, Nexus LG 4. Please help!

Hi Cynthia,

There are two types of text messages: SMS and MMS. SMS is your usual message that contains nothing but text, sent from one phone to another phone. MMS messages are the ones containing pictures, the ones sent from a computer (and in your case a scheduling system) or other phone. MMS requires a data connection, even tho it does not count towards your data limit. SMS messages do not. This is why some of your text messages are coming in and others are not. To get your scheduling system messages, you will need to leave your data turned on.

In android, you can go in your settings and set yourself a data limit so that you don't go over your data limit. It will turn the data off once you pass your set data limit.
