Hello Nicholas.

Plans prices are set according to how much the services cost. There's no reason I could explain why they are so high compared to other countries

People are only as good as they have to be in business. Shoes that sell for $29 a pair at Walmart in the US cost $49 in Canada. Often cost has nothing to do with it. Walmart.ca is not deliberately buying from more expensive suppliers than their US counterpart, but instead of moving $10M worth of those shoes in the US, Canada has to have more modest targets.

At the other end of the stick, minimum wage and health benefits in Canada can be up to 25% more in real funds than in the US, so it's not really fair to compare one to the next.

Very happy to be here much more than there despite the occasional $$$ anomaly.
