$30 connection fee (including SIM card) applies when purchased in store
$0 connection fee (including SIM card) when you order online!

Why is it that if I order a plan online I pay nothing but if I go to the store I get charged 30 dollars? This makes no sense to me.

Online you do everything yourself. In a store a rep helps you and they get a commission. I dont agree with it at all but most providers charge the same fee.

Hi there!

As you said, the option to get it at 0$ was always there, online...

When you do it in store, there are a number of benefits like setting up your new device and rate plan, setting up your voicemail and self serve, detailed explanation and walk through of your first bill, your sim card, etc...

Koodo has billed itself as a self-serve brand. This is a way to get you to do it online.

This is fairly standard approach nowadays across many business. When you buy a book from Indigo/Chapters in store you will pay more than if you buy that same book from them via online. As others have mentioned above there is a service you do get in exchange for the $30 dollars at store like setup, contact/content transfer etc. Online you do that all yourself.

If it makes you feel any better, they do this all all the big 3 and little 3 carriers
