Why am I getting a message that says "Background data retricted. Touch to remove restriction."? On a month plan, no data. Don't want data!

Why am I getting a message that says "Background data retricted. Touch to remove restriction."? I have a month plan and no data. Don't want to pay for data!

Is this a warning from your phone or a message you got from Koodo? Which phone do you have?

Galaxy Prime phone. Yes, it comes up as a warning. Also get message saying "Sign-in failed" followed by my email address.

It's a feature that prevents apps from using data in the background. The background being running without you using it. Things like pushing notifications to you.

Does it say what the sign in failed is for?

Ok. Are the notifications something I should be getting?

Re sign in: it doesn't say specifically. Looks to me like it is for an email account. But I haven't been trying to sign in to my email.

Well if you don't have data on your plan it's probably best that it is. It shouldn't be restricting anything on Wi-Fi.

Hmm not familiar with that honestly. If it isn't impacting anything, all the better. I'd give your phone a restart to see if it changes anything. Beyond that I'd have to research what it could be exactly or if someone who knows can chime In.

Both of these messages just started popping up in the last month. And at the same time, I started hearing a ringing sound about every half-hour and can't figure out what it is. Have tried turning off sounds for various things, but the only thing that works is to turn off all sound for everything all at once.

And today the phone stopped working completely - had to take out battery etc. to restart. And those messages are still there.

No I haven't installed any apps because I'm afraid I'll do something that will cost too much!

Are you using restrict network? Click on settings, mobile data, click the three dots in the corner, clicl restrict networks and see if any of thw connections are set on.

Sorry - had a busy week! I don't have an option for mobile data in my settings. There is mobile network or mobile hotspots.

Getting very frustrated!!!! Just got my new bill and have a $7.50 data charge. As far as I can tell, I have everything turned off so why am I getting this charge? This is the second time in the less-than-a-year that I have had this phone.
