Which is a better buy and keeper, Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge?

I was quite surprised by the friendly community from my last two topics, so I thought I'd ask another. I feel very excited towards the changes Samsung has made on the Galaxy S series, and have decided to go for either the S6 or S6 Edge.

My question is, what might be things to take into account on choosing either the original S6 or the edge variant? What would you personally consider as a unique reason for or against the phones?

Some will consider the S6 Edge for its unique curved glass design. That's pretty much the only thing that sets it apart from the S6, as they're both equally spec'd. Personally, I'm not a fan of glass-backed anything, though Gorilla Glass 4 is pretty tough stuff, it's still a hardened form of glass and prone to breakage.

No expandable storage on either device is a let down, 32 GB can get eaten up fairly quickly these days. Non-removable battery is another, I like the option of swapping out a spare battery, though it seems many manufacturers are headed that way as well, (HTC, LG, Motorola, iPhone).

I can't say I'm really against because I see all smartphones as marvels of technology. The biggest sore point in my opinion is the lack of expandable storage. I prefer an aluminium shell over glass, for the fact that the phone with the aluminium shell is able to withstand the occasional drop without catastrophic results. A glass back, well I don't have to explain what could happen there.

To your first question, I really think that it boils down to personal preference.

Just my nickels' worth :)

As they're basically both the exact same devices except one has a curved screen and a couple software features that many won't actually find helpful it kind of comes down to a couple small things.
One, what feels better to you in your hand as both have a completely different feel when holding them.
The second is does the curved edge appeal to you and if so is that appeal worth an extra $100 out of your wallet.
There's one last one and that's if you want the white model from Koodo well then you really have no choice as only the regular S6 is available in white from Koodo.

For me after seeing both and holding them I have to say the regular felt better in the hand, it just fits your hand beautifully for a device with a flat back.
I personally love white phones or lighter colored phones and the white looks awesome on the camera lens and everything and to me white really makes the silver accents pop.
So you'd think that for me the regular S6 would be my obvious choice right, well it's not I personally am choosing the S6 Edge because I absolutely fell in love with the curved screen and how it makes the focus of the display pop out like things are sort of 3D or something, that and when pulling things on screen in from the side it gives the effect that it's wrapping around from the back of the screen on to the front and it looks so damn cool. If you haven't seen the two devices yet go check them out at your local Koodo and see what you think that's your best thing to do.
When you get one come back and let us know what one you went with and why, I'd love to hear back on your decision.

oh boy, yesterday wasn't my day! Sorry once again! At the moment, we'll only offer the 32Gb version. If the S6 & S6 Edge are later offered with more capacity, we'll definitely inform our customers via our Facebook page and website :) Thank you!

I'm so pro android, I do graphic designing, and I do auto-cad / desk, and being able to do it all and customize my phone, is so amazing. I use buzz launcher with my own designed icons, wallpapers and cool effects all around.

How's the battery in your opinion Gerry?

Hey Jordano!
Battery life isn't the greatest compared to my iPhone 6. It isnt horrible or anything but I can see a difference in the two already! Quick charge is awesome though and very fast. I think I can get a 70% charge in about 20-25 mins! Which is pretty awesome!!
I'm not done exploring all it has to offer yet but I'm still loving it. Being hardcore Apple user and going to Android was a big step for me but the awesomeness of this phone keeps the iPhone withdraws away! LOL

That's honestly the only thing keeping me back from going and picking up one for myself. I just feel like the note 4 can offer me so much more in the battery department, because I'm out for most of the day. Thanks for letting me know!

I disabled "adaptive display" and battery life has got much much better!!
I do have another issue though, seems like the camera flash isn't doing all that good of a job, pics are so dark even when flash goes off! My iPhone took such great pics, and the Galaxy does also but if the flash doesn't work properly I may have to bring it back and stick with my iPhone! I take alot of pics on my travels and would hate to not get that pic moment because of flash issues!

I just feel like all other problems are so much below the battery life worries in my book. I consider that the biggest deciding factor in my life today, as I will be away from a charger most definitely. Camera does beyond what I'd expect though so that's no worries.

Thanks for the feed back, I will definitely be choosing the black model, as I can't get over the beauty. Especially when the blue shines when light hits the phone. I just don't know if I'd enjoy the edge as much as it seems. It's crazy cool with the swiping effects making things look like they are rolling onto/off the screen. They both are perfect to me, I like holding the S6 more, but the Edge is perfectly find, and I found my ideal case for sure, biggest thing for me, is really just price worth the cool effect, and do I want to show it off.

Nevertheless, either one will make me happy, and I just want to get the most out of my device I can, so all input is valuable to me!

My nickel's worth: The Edge is a sweet phone. It is nice in your hand, and nice on the desk, but tricky to pick up unless laid face down. I also find when holding the phone my finger is on the 'off' button when I manipulate the volume buttons.

It has a very attractive UI, and, at least so far, very snappy in operation.

I suggest playing with both for a while to see which feels better. The operation should be the same, though I expect the S6 might be easier to use in some circumstances.

Edge in my opinion is really amazing and I think that's my choice. Got to say it has that latest design I want to get my hands on.

My vote is for the Non-edge S6
