The Galaxy S3 update has not rolled out at all yet and the Galaxy S4 update just hit Canada a couple weeks ago now. So I don't know where your getting that the S3 update has been pushed by Samsung already?

KitKat 4.4 just rolled out on Sprint in the US, how long before we'll see the update in Canada?

The S3 Kit Kat update has been released by Samsung. It is on their website, but waiting for Koodo to realease it OTA. If I update to the Koodo version of Kit Kat directly from the Samsung site, will it affect my service?

Foolishly I applied the update along with the rest of the daily updates. The update came through Samsung. Everything looked good until it was finished, now my phone only works with the SD card removed. If the SD card is in it will unlock and I can see my screens for about a five count then it just goes to a Samsung logo with a pulsing blue notification light and doesn't change even after an hour. Also phone does not work in the background when this happens. Phone seems fine without SD card, but version not showing an update either.

Many thanks for your comment. I will just wait for Koodo to release the Kit Kat update, hopefully soon.

The S3 has had KitKat for a while. Don't know what the problem is. You should be able to download the update OTA or apply it manually.

Just to add but don't expect any further updates after this as the S3 is now over 3 years old and it was very lucky to even be updated to kit Kat
