I have a plan that gives me 6 gigs of data. To upgrade to iphone that goes down to 2 gigs and for 25 bucks more.

Oh you were trying to go on Tab L and get a cheaper price on the iPhone. You - can- keep your plan but you'll have to use Tab M, which is a max $300 subsidy. You'll just pay an extra $5 for the Tab charge until it's paid off.

No, I was told, even with the increased tab, that I could not keep my 6gig data plan with a new iphone. Which is why I still have my lg phone. The most I could have was 2gig plan and the extra 25 bucks did not even include the extra cost for the increased tab.

Alacrity, you CAN upgrade your phone AND keep your plan. I (we) don't know how to make it any clearer.

When on TabSmall (which you are currently on right now, albeit the older one with a lower 10% tab payback rate) you can choose any plan you like, and have $150 knocked off the price of your phone.

On TabMedium, there are 2 requirements:
1) Your plan must be priced $30 or more (you're okay for this)
2) There is a $5 Tab surcharge every month that goes making sure the whole Tab is paid back within 24 months (new CRTC compliance is in effect).

For TabLarge (which we DON'T recommend), you need to pick one out of the 3 TabL plans AND there is a $10/month Tab surcharge added on top.

Now, forget about $85 and 2GB and all that. You get to keep your plan. Anyone that tells you otherwise is high on crack.

The upgrade process will go like this (and I'll use the $500 Nexus 5 as an example)
1) You go to the kiosk and start the device upgrad process.
2) Your current Tab balance will be charged to you either on the spot, or on your next bill (can't remember which)
3) You then get to choose between either a new TabSmall or new TabMedium (NOT TabLarge since you can't keep your plan with this one). If you go TabSmall, then you pay $350 outright for your device, and you're done. If you go TabMedium, you pay $200 outright for your device, get $5 added to your bill every month, and you're done.

Okay, so if I pay what's left over of the purchase price on the tab medium I don't lose anything. Cool, now I just have to wait until my next trip out of town to give it a try. We have a Koodo store but sadly lacking any selection of new phones. Thanks for your help.

No problem Alacrity! Remember: you'll pay what you owe on your current phone first, this will in turn give you access to a new empty TabMedium. Choose your phone, pay whatever amount is over $300 (or choose a $300 phone and have it free!) and that's it! Your plan will now cost you $60 + $5 though ($5 is the TabM contribution). This way, you'll get your new device AND keep those precious GB's :oP

Alacrity, if you decide to use the Medium Tab, you cannot keep your $25 rate plan(as I mentioned).

Myke: Alacrity has the $60 Super 6GB plan that was offered in 2012.... I don't remember him talking about a $25 plan ??

I had same issue Alacrily! Bottom line as far as 6G plans go, we have the best. I found it in my best interest to go with Moto G on small Tab and keep the 6G plan. Otherwise I'd be paying over $100.00 for 6Gs and adding extra to pay off "up graded" phone.

Okay forget Moto G, non-removable battery and no memory card slot. Sticking with the LG500h for now.

If you only want to spend $150 Alacrity, maybe consider the Galaxy S2X? It's an older generation phone, but it still serves many users decently, and it has both a removable battery and SD slot. And it is quite the upgrade from your Optimus One!

Check out a Koodo store, I'm sure they got something that you'll like that you can get on SAME PLAN you have now.

David is right Alacrily! S2x would be an awesome up grade from lg 500h.

The S2X is garbage.

EDIT: Lol I was thinking of something else. The S2X actually isn't that bad :P

That's the Ace2X Ahmad :oP And yes, it is garbage!

S2X ain't too bad, although getting a bit old! But it does have what OP wants (remov. battery / SD)

The S3 is free on Medium Tab still too. It has microSD and a removable battery plus it's newer than the S II X (so you'll be getting 4.4 soon). You'll also be able to keep your plan; just add $5/month until the Tab is done. :)

Alacrity, Jonathan's advice is really good! Since you're on the Canada-wide Super 6GB plan, you're more likely than anyone else to NEVER leave Koodo, so a larger Tab probably wouldn't scare you off (for fear of a larger last bill upon cancellation). The S3 is still very capable and updated at least to Kitkat, and it has what you're after. It's 720p SuperAMOLED screen is also spectacular (to 2012's standards)!
