They don't force you to update to the new current plan when upgrading your phone.

Unfortunately this sucks but other providers force you to change to a current plan even when you buy the phone outright.

That's not true. There's people still on Rogers $60 6G plans from a few years ago who buy their phones outright and it doesn't force them to change.

Maybe it's not for every one. But my friend was told she can't keep her grandfathered plan even if she buy a phone outright(she is with Rogers)

They should just be able to buy it outright from the carrier's store online, then. Stores probably said that to them because reps don't make commission from outright upgrades, and/or generally upgrades don't pay them as much anyway.

Hi Giavau,

Have you visited a Koodo Shop? They can take a look at your rate plan and see if there is a current rate plan that is cheaper. The new rate plans are a little cheaper than the standard old rate plans to compensate for the higher Koodo Tab charge. Plus after your tab balance is paid off, you don't have to pay for that extra Tab charge and its lots of savings after that.

As well, with Koodo you are not forced to change your current rate plan even if it was one of the old promotions. Hope this helps.

Thanks. All, they didn't force me to change my plan. Which is great. I simply didn't like the idea of higher monthly rate until my phone is pay off. I have 150 credit I can use towards. There phone got more expensive. I suppose, I simply disappointed.

I agree 100%. It really is a change to increase pricing no matter what they call it.  However out there in the market right now are worse plans.  Do your research and choose whats best for you
