What's hogging all my memory/processor? Why is my phone so slow?

My Samsung Galaxy Ace IIx (GT-S7560M) is bogged down and so slow. It says my RAM is 86% used, but I have no apps running (except the Task Manager, which I have to run to check on this, of course).
I have been using Clean Master, an app which cleans temp files and background apps, and it helps somewhat, but it seems like the problems only stop for a few minutes when using that. In time it's like all the background apps have just started up again.

Is there anything I can do? My phone's Task Mgr says there are "0 Active applications"

It's so bad, that I have sometimes been unable to take an incoming call because there was not sufficient RAM for the phonecalls application. That's about as bad as it gets, I think. Very annoying.

You've done all you can do but it won't help much.

You're better off upgrading your device. The Ace II X is just too low spec'd to offer a good user experience for Android. It has 512mb RAM and a weak, slow processor.

If you like Samsung phones, the Galaxy Core is a viable replacement. It gives you a better Samsung Galaxy experience without the high price tag of their flagships. It has a newer, quad core processor, more updated version of Android, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16gb internal storage.

I'd advise against any entry-level Samsung. The Core is much better than the Ace line, but it's still bogged down by Samsung's bloated UX. With Samsung, it's best to stay with their top models.

My dad has the core. It's no Lumia 635 or Moto G but it holds its own.
