What qualifies as a 90 day customer?

I want to get a new phone with a new number and keep my old phone as well. If my old phone has been with Koodo for a number of years do I still need to wait 90 to pay off my tab of the new phone I am going to purchase? Do the 90 days start when you buy that device or when you started paying for koodo services?

You need 90 days to pay off the tab of a new phone.  Or you can just buy the phone outright and not worry about the tab at all

In others words, yes you would still need to wait. Dennis answered the question, but just to make sure, the 90 days start when you buy that device.

So say I am buying a galaxy s7 on a tab large. I would pay $200 outright, then $95 for the next 3 months ($21 for the tab and $74 for the starting plan), then after those 3 months I could pay the rest of the tab off ($441) and once I do I can change my plan to any plan of my choice (such as a $10 unlimited messaging plan with call and data add ons). In total with the tab I would pay $926 and have 3 months of a $74 plan. The other option would be I could buy the phone outright for $804 and once I do I can change my plan (to the $10 messaging with add ons) at anytime. Would all this be correct?

Id wait a little longer just to be safe.  Besides, at day 15 they dont want the phone back anyways lol

Fair. I heard that day 2 port-out was trending for phone acquisition and when it's a port-out, I don't know if the carrier can take the phone back, even if you wanted to return it.

If your intention were to return the phone, I think you'd have to do that first, they put you then on a BYOD, and then you port out.

If the activation was done since August 2017, Koodo's revised ToS dropped the 90 day clawback rule. By now, few or no subscribers are still within their 90 days since their activation was done prior to this ToS change.

Since OP is looking for a phone on a tab large with an up-front installment, it's less likely that they're going after gift card incentives (which, btw usually only apply to new activations, and OP is discussing an upgrade).
