The 6p price is justifiable ($50 more than google due to carrier markup) but why the heck is the 5x $650? The other carrier is around $550. Pricing mistake?

The 6p is only that price though if it's activated on a tab plus plan or its seven hundred and something, you get an activation discount on the tab plus

I get why 6p is $754, that makes sense. Google is even selling it for $699. But why is the price for the 5x so high? $650 compared to $499! Even with the tab, it's $254. There's a $200 difference between these two phones outside of Koodo.

Its the Walmart principle. You take a few things and mark em close to MSRP makes you look like you have good prices. But to recoup the money you mark up a few other products and hope people wont notice. Everybody does this now from Zehrs, to Walmart to Rogers........
Best thing to do is buy from Google or another dealer that sells factory unlocked (Amazon.ca etc) and you get the added bonus of saving more money because normally unlocked phones cost more and you will never have to cough out money to unlock it if you decide to switch

Makes sense but is it really in Koodo's nature to do this? OP's point is why do it with the 5X but not the 6P?

I think we should all keep in mind that the phone is factory unlocked.
So there is a higher chance of the public buying the phone and then just leaving for their own carrier.
As such I'm sure the phone is priced to make a larger profit.
That being said, there is literally nothing stopping anyone from getting it from another provider or straight from google.

I'd say that there's about zero chance of this, considering they can buy it straight from Google.

Using that logic, every carrier would sell it for google price =P

The issue for me is not whether I buy it from Google and use it on Koodo, it is the principle of gouging customers.  This is precisely why I am with Koodo in the first place...because in my opinion they do not gouge us.  Pricing the 5X like this goes against that principle.  Yes, I can go elsewhere, I know that, but that's not the point...the point is Koodo was (is?) better than this and I am severely disappointed.

I have a $150 tab credit but Koodo's price is still $5 more than Google's lol

Maybe Koodo really has the 32GB?  Which is 559CAD from Google.

Maybe Koodo thought the price on Google Play is in USD?  They should know better than that...
