I went to a Koodo Kiosk (at Portage Place mall in Winnipeg) today and I was denied service for not providing my SIN number as part of opening open a new account with Koodo. I asked if I could proceed with opening account using other credentials. I was told no and that I could not proceed with opening an account with Koodo unless I provided my SIN. Is it Koodo's policy to deny service to customers who do not provide a SIN? Both my Driver's Licence with Photo ID and Credit card were available to run the necessary credit checks. The policy stated on Koodo's website indicates it is not necessary to provide a SIN. Do I need to provide a SIN to do business with Koodo?
