It's a new 30 dollar charge for activating or getting a phone on tab in store.

You can avoid this fee if you activate or order online via Koodo's webstore

If i buy a new phone in store and bring it home and activate it on line do you still have to pay that $30 free

If you are a new customer, you cannot activate at home.  Unless you mean prepaid, if so then I dont believe there there is an connection fee.

But in summary all postpaid phone purchases or new customer activation in store will come with a $30 connection fee.  There is no fee when completed online

Best to think of it as "connection fee" = "store commission" for dealing with you. There is no connection fee for prepaid.

Apparently they charge the $30 fee when you order a new phone online for an existing account, even though it's written everywhere that they don't. Currently on hold, for 20 minutes now with no end in sight, to bitch them out and have it removed. Seems "charge anyway and see if we can get away with it" is their moto... Pathetic!

I see it on my bill that I just received.
I'm now on hold for them to verify that I actually made a purchase thru the online store and had to provide an order number. They sure were quick to add the $240 to my tab but apparently don't know I ordered online. Pretty sad. More waiting... I was told this verification take "some time".

Yes not good. A hassle for you for sure. Dont get why it shouldnt take more than a couple minutes to verify. First time I've heard of a activation fee being charged for something done online.

It was credited back when I called to complain. Longer story but it was their screw up. 40 minutes of time I will never get back.  :(

For future reference you can send a private message to Koodo via Facebook Messenger or DM via Twitter to get such errors sorted out. It takes longer overall but you don't have to sit waiting until you get messaged.
