I will be taking a 7 day Caribean cruise, leaving from New Orleans. What are the charges if I use the on board "Cell at Sea" service. Are there any plans that will give me a discount while I am in the Caribean?

You're going to be charged for satellite roaming which is very, very, very expensive on a ship. When your on land you may want to use these roaming add ons. Koodo does not offer any packages while you're at sea. Actually, I don't think anyone does

Although you may get sporadic coverage on the Gulf, it will be hit and miss who it will be from.

You could sign up for a Caribbean and a US roaming package and and try your luck.

There is no such thing as Satellite Roaming from your Koodo Cell phone. There is a service provider on many ships, that will use satellite. This should be avoided as the costs will be very high.

Yes, if he chooses to use the ships communications facilities, it will be via satellite and expensive. The ship will likely be nearby a shore during the daytime with the exception of those days it may not be stopping at a port. You will need to select a specific carrier to avoid the ships facilities.

So, yes he will be able to pick up service on the ship, in the Ocean, where signal may propagate.

If you could control RF to the point of a shoreline, then we wouldn't have all the posts about roaming in border cities.
