My phone is eating up an INSANE amount of data. I have an app to shut down all programs, and i religously do so, but i keep having tk pay for more data, because it gets eaten up within A half an hour. I have never in all my days of owning a cell phone, gone through this much data, and i have absolutely no clue as to why it would NEED to be using so much data. I recently just switched over to koodo due to crappy service from another provider., if this is what i get to look forward to, out relationship is goibg to be cut short rather quick. Also, this samsung s5 new that was givin to me by koodo, it probably the absoute worst/glitchiest phone i have ever owned.

Could you take a picture of your app usage screen so we can see what is using it up and how much its using? What are the glitches you are having with the s5?

It freezes up. It wont respind to touch. Then i cant even turn it off. I have to actually pull the battery

Is it the Google play store doing all the app updates?

You don't NEED to use data, so no need to blame Koodo :) As the others said, it's either a rogue app eating up your data, or you haven't set privileges for using data correctly. I use less than 80MB per month so I know Koodo doesn't enforce the usage of data at all...

I'd do all the updates if I were you and until that is done, switch off data and make sure you're on WiFi. That way at least you know you won't use it up on frivolous updates.

By default, new phones are usually delivered with mobile data ON so that as you leave the mall, you don't do an about-turn to complain that data doesn't work.

Best to check your Google Play / Apple preferences to only accept updates when on wifi, since that phone may have been sitting on a shelf for over a month, which means it's got software that may be stale by 1-3 updates.

Facebook videos, snapchat videos,  playing games that have a lot of video advertisements are things that have killed my data.  There should be a screenshot on your phone that lists which apps are using the most data.  I would be curious to see which app that was.  Share that when you have a chance.

Also check if your phone is set to automaticaly update apps.  I would turn that off or set it so it only updates on WIFI.  Also, like others have said, it could be a software update, which is usually automatic but you can set that so that is manual and only on WIFI as well.
