VIP membership card: At the end of August, I had my existing phone unlocked and went to Koodoo to activate it there as a monthly customer. I purchased a new SIM card and thought that I had pre-paid the first month's service (i.e. September 2016). However, I just received my October bill with a late payment fee because I did not pay September. I pulled out my receipt and see that I actually paid for a VIP membership (non refundable). What is this VIP membership and what are the benefits to having it? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hello TerraLou.

Could you upload a picture of your bill and hide the personal information? I've never seen such thing as a VIP membership with Koodo.

Where did you purchase this, at a Koodo booth, or at some other retailer?

I understood Koodo postpaid SIM cards were $10, and I have not heard of them being discounted. Is it possible the VIP card is for purchases at the retailer's store(s), and not Koodo itself?

It was at a Koodo booth in mall in Toronto.

Theresa, that looks like a receipt, not your Koodo bill. We don't have anything like a VIP membership card. Is the phone under your name?

Nothing appears on my koodo bill regarding this.  This photo is the receipt that I got when I purchased the SIM card, and activated a monthly account with koodo.  And apparently paid for a VIP membership.  :o)

You didn't buy it at a Koodo store, right? Who sold you this?

Eglinton Square.  I have a friend who did the same thing a few days before me (SIM card, activated a new monthly account).  I just got her to check her bill.  She also got charged for a VIP membership.

That's not one of our own Corporate stores. It is an authorized dealer and they often sell other products as well. You should give them a call and inquire what exactly it is they sold you.

Sounds like a good idea.  Thanks for your assistance!

This is like what they do in big box stores.  Its similar to that extended warranty thing.  But with this, you get a protective case, a protective screensaver and discounts on accessories.  Mine was $49 but with added discounts when I purchased a new phone, I got it for less and I got a discount on a memory card.  This was at Eglington Square too.
