I am trying to use a prepaid SIM in a device that is not a phone (a PLC that can send/receive SMS); however, I have registered the prepaid SIM with a phone before transfering to the PLC. Is it possible for the SIM to work with this device? So far no luck.

I'm not really sure. The device has to be compatible with the network frequencies otherwise it won't work.

All I know is that it's operating via GSM. Based on my failed attempts to get it working thus far, I'm going to go ahead and assume that Koodo doesn't support GSM?

You got it. Only Rogers/Fido have GSM. Koodo (Telus) uses HSPA 850/1900 and LTE 1700/2100
