Hello Koodo. I registered for the automatic topup and gave permission to take only 15 dollars out from my credit card (i have a baseplan of 15) but because i registered my credit card i get 10 % off. Currently i noticed that koodo has been taking $16.95 for my last month and it also says i have to pay a balance of $9. Please explain the fees.

Ah *rubs hands* my very favorite subject :) It's like this:

With auto top up, you get actually a 10% credit as a present each month back in the form of credit.

So you top up with $15 each month (+ tax, hence the $16.95 taken from your credit card), but you get $1.50 back every month. In a few months, you can use that credit to buy a booster if you wish, or lower the auto top up temporarily to use up your funds again.

I don't think you need to pay $9, but it means that your balance is $9 that you own. Next top up your balance will have gone up to $10.50 etc :)

Hope that explains it!

WOW, that is weird! However if you currently have service, I would just ignore it and see what it says/does on the 9th. Sometimes self service behaves a bit funny...

Or does it say "expired" perhaps under account status? In that case, your auto top up might have been added after your plan date had expired already... but then again it wouldn't give June 9 as a renewal date.

I'm miffed really (which doesn't take much, haha!)

Ahahaha exactly. And my account says active. This wasnt there last month so i seriously dont get why they would do that... wouldnt they take that 9 dollars off my credit card next month if that stays?

No, if you agreed to automatic top up of $15, they can never take more or even any other amount. Keep this screenshot though because next month your account balance should read $7.50 then and hopefully the $9 will be changed to $0. If so, then all is good :)

Auto top-up is a driverless car that always takes the agreed amount regardless of whether it's needed. The 10% bonus can accrue to well beyond the point that your account has enough in it to pay your baseplan.

Sophia's first response says it all. But also expect a text warning that your plan needs to top up a few days before it auto-happens, giving you a needless scare.

I finally figured it out myself.... the balance and the amount due always add up to $15 (duh!!!! I can't believe I didn't see that before!)

So, last time you had a balance of $6... which meant the amount due was $9.

Two cycles later you have a balance of $9, so the amount due is $6.

Next time, the amount due will drop to $4.50 and your balance will be $10.50.

However since you have automatic top up, you won't have to worry about this... you are covered :)

Basically.... yes. As long as you have a balance of over $15, it will say $0. But as I said, in your case you don't have to worry, because you use auto top up :)
