Going to switzerland for two weeks and I would like to know what's the cheapest way to have either data, phone calls or text messages over there?
Should I unblock the phone while in europe to take a prepaid service and block it back with koodo when I get back?
(phone is Samsung Galaxy SII)

Yes, unlock the phone (while you are still here) and get a local prepaid sim in Europe

It costs $35 to unlock a phone with Koodo (you may find a cheaper alternative on ebay). Here are the unlocking criteria if you choose to do it with koodo

And when I travel I use this site religiously to find the best prepaid deals out there

When travelling, get a SIM card that includes data & then use an App like TextPlus & you'll be able to TXT your Canadian friends & family for free (just uses a bit of data).
Using the App, you can also call your friends & family in Canada for free, though only if they have the App too. TXT'ing though doesn't require anything on their end, only you need to have the App.

Do not use your koodo data in Europe. You will get bill shock when you get back. Just get it unlocked and get a SIM in Europe.
