Thinking about upgrading my phone to either a Nexus 5 or Note 2. If someone has owned one or both of these phones please let me know which would be the better phone in the long run. Thanks!

I've played with a Note II for a while and I really like the S Pen functionality and camera. Big screen is nice. Expandable memory is a plus too. Battery life is very good too. The processor is still quite capable but it is over a year old now so keep that in mind.

Nexus 5 is more barebones Android but some argue that's actually better; the Snapdragon 800 chip is also extremely fast and responsive. The phone comes unlocked, is a more manageable size, and has a capable camera too. Battery life won't be as good as the Note II though.

I'd lean towards the note 2 myself, mainly because it has expandable memory and a removable battery.

I've had both devices and the Nexus 5 is a much faster device and will get updates to the Android OS for another year or so where the Note 2 is done for updates after 4.4.2 that it's receiving right now. The Nexus 5 also has a much better display and is actually one of the nicest displays available on a device right now.
The Note 2 has a better camera, it's fairly quick as it still has a quad core processor which runs very cool so the device doesn't heat upbarely at all. The best thing about the Note 2 is the battery life which is amazing, you can get about 2 days with it with moderate / normal use which is always great. Then you get the S-Pen with the Note 2 which once you figure out how you can fit it into your daily use is an awesome thing to have and comes in quite handy. The Expandable storage and removable battery are also super handy like Timo said and I actually got an external charger and extra battery for about $35 and have one battery always charged and just swap them out and never have down time.
Of all the phones I've had in the past the Note 2 is the one I miss the most probably so I'd say I'd grab the Note 2 unless your a fan of pure Android the way Google intended or you want the newest versionof aAndroid for the next year or so which only the Nexus 5 will get.

I've got a Nexus 4 as my current device and I've had a Samsung Galaxy S2X (Koodo) before. Just needed some feedback from some people who have had both of the phones I initially asked about. Should definitely make my choice a little easier in the near future, thanks Paul, Timo and Johnathan for your opinions! :)

I'd cast my vote for the Nexus 5 over the Note 2. I've owned a Nexus 5 and a Note 3 and considering I prefer the Nexus to the newer note, I can't really picture liking the older model any better.
