If I upgrade my iphone to another iphone do I keep my existing apple care and transfer it to the new phone or do I have to pay for new apple care?

Hi Patricia,

Apple care is registered on one single device, not on a person. Meaning, once activated on 1 iPhone you can't transfer it to a different phone. That being said, if you give the phone to someone else, you can transfer that apple care account into that persons name as it's still the same phone.

If you want Apple care on your new iPhone, you will need to pay for it.

You don't transfer the AC+ to the person's account. It stays with the device automatically. This greatly increases the phone's resale value.

Hello Patricia, you can also refund the Apple Care if you call Apple and ask them to do that! I know my phone got stolen once, and I got refunded part of my Apple Care. Try and do it, maybe it'll work!
