Updating Expiry date on Credit Card

I was notified by mail to update my credit card since it would expire next month. I went on the website and updated it but it gave me a message to call to verify the details. I called the number and after going through all the prompts it told me that it cannot accept my credit card. This is the same card I have been using since I started my Kodoo account (Visa) so why would it now not be accepted? All I did was update the expiry date.

The new card is activated already, right?

The sticker on my new card said I didn't need to activate it and that I can use the same PIN.

You might need to use the card to make a purchase first

I have gone ahead and called CIBC to activate the card. I will go back and try again. Not sure why the credit card company would tell me that I don't need to activate the card when you should.

Just went back and tried again. It worked this time. Next time I will ignore what the sticker says on the credit card and call the credit card company to activate it.
