I am travelling to the US for several months and want to unlock my Galaxy s4 to use on a US carrier. It is a rooted phone so will a Koodo unlock code still work?

Yes.

Also it may be cheaper to search online like ebay for an unlock code

If it's rooted I'm pretty sure you can unlock it for free anyway.

Hello Earl,

Unlock codes provided by us can only be guaranteed if the device has not been rooted.

Hope that helps :)

As of December 1st, you will be able to have your phone unlocked at no charge, but not before then.

Thanks for your quick reply Cory.  I knew about the december 1 date already.  What I was particularly interested in learning was what Craig had asked-namely how does Koodo plan to manage this?

They will charge $0 for unlocking at this point in December
