Unlocking a US AT&T or T-Mobile Iphone 4 for use with Koodo

I'm considering buying a replacement Iphone logic board (in effect the whole phone, minus peripherals) from ifixit.com. These are listed as locked to either T-Mobile or AT&T in the united states.
As replacing the logic board is in effect getting a new phone, can this then be unlocked for use on Koodo/Telus here in Canada? Having no relationship with the american networks I doubt I could get them to unlock it for me. As the phone's owner has an active account with Koodo, I presume they'll be happy to unlock this repaired phone for continued use?

In summary, Can I unlock a US AT&T or T-Mobile phone on the Koodo network without involving the foreign carriers?

It all depends on the network specs of that phone model. There is some answers throughout the forum here with what Koodos network supports. Also if you can get the IMEI number from them before you buy it, You can enter it here

Yes, but the price to get a third party unlock is fairly high for iPhones. Others commenting  on this forum have quotes in excess of $100 for an iPhone unlock. Koodo cannot unlock an iPhone from another carrier.
