If I bring in my unlocked iPhone 6s into Koodo to start a new account, as I am unhappy with the current provider I have, will my phone then be locked to Koodo??

No it should not. Be sure if you want to keep your number to call Koodo to start the porting process.

Thanks Groan, yes I'll definitely be "porting" my current phone number.

Secondary, I purchased my iPhone outside of my current provider, during my contract and just activated it by putting in the sim, does that mean its currently unlocked?? As I didn't purchase it through my provider??

It most likely is, but it depends where you brought it from.
