Hi,

If I buy a used locked to Koodo phone from another person and it is within 90 days of them purchasing it from Koodo, can I get it unlocked?

Thanks!

Koodo will only unlock phones after the 90 days, and only to the original account holder.

That being said, you can always find someone in your city to do it, or you can do it yourself online(www.cellunlocker.net is a good place to start).

Actually it doesn't have to be the "original account holder". It can be anyone with a Koodo account.

Keep in mind that if it's an iPhone your looking at $100 + to get it unlocked from a 3rd party unlocking service. Android devices your looking anywhere from $5 to around $40 to get it unlocked from a 3rd party unlocking service.

Hi John,

You just have to wait until the IMEI is fully saved to your account by using the Koodo phone and then call in to Koodo Customer Service, this will cost you $35 that will appear on your next bill. However, you will need to have an active postpaid account to do this. If you do not have a Koodo account, Koodo cannot unlock your phone. As Matthew suggested you will have to refer in third party places.

You can get unlock codes on koodo's self serve, it's a waste to call unless you need an iPhone to be unlocked. And koodo stores also unlock any android, windows or blackberry phones even if the phone is not one they carry.

As long as your signing up to become a Koodo customer

Mr Petersens,

Yes, you are right! From my understanding, Koodo can ONLY unlock other carrier if they are coming in as a NEW customer. As well, NOT ALL android, windows, blackberry phones can be unlocked because certain carriers/phone manufacturers (especially those outside Canada) have limitations or those that phones that are reported as lost/stolen.
