Does anyone know if I have to unlock my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge with Telus before switching to Koodo?

Hello Chris,

Fortunately for you, you won't. PM/Telus/Koodo use the same network so SIM card should work.

Speaking from the perspective of an iPhone 6 owner, I didn't unlock my phone before I went to Koodo and it works seamlessly. Not sure if thats the case with Android but I assume it is.

If you would like to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge locked to Télus, currently $15.50 on eBay.

Or (as you have no need to unlock your phone whilst coming to Koodo from Telus), you can wait until December 1st and get it unlocked for free.

@Allan: I don't get it...what happens December 1st, and who would unlock the S6 for free (Télus or Koodo)?

I thought the unlock code from carrier is $50.

The CRTC just announced "As of December 1st, 2017, all individual and small business wireless consumers will have the right to have their mobile devices unlocked free of charge upon request, while all newly purchased devices must be provided unlocked from that day forward."

Allan I think forgot to mention that the CRTC announced today that as of December 1st, unlocking must be provided free and newly sold phones must be sold unlocked!

Wow, this is depressing. I hope it doesn't compromise or lessen Koodo's promotions.

Mind you, in OP's case, since they're going from Télus to Koodo, would make sense to hold off on unlocking their S6 unless they're travelling sooner.
