Unlimited Text Only MONTHLY Plan

I shared this idea earlier but Koodo only has a plan like this for prepaid where you still have to shell out a couple hundred bucks for the phone ... they should make a MONTHLY plan that includes the Koodo tab ...

Make like a $10 plan with only unlimited texting for people who don't, or rarely, call and are looking to save on a phone bill.

Good luck texting 911 when you get into a car accident.

Pure text ONLY is kind of ridiculous. You need to make a phone call at some point.

Some of my clients are very old people who just want an emergency phone for calling. So that turns into a sale for the LG A341 on the $20 plan for me. They don't even know how to text!

there is always emergency calling and standard call rates if I do need to call ... if you only NEED texting, it might be a good idea ... I didn't say it was for everyone

Not to nitpick :) But yes 911 is always available even on a locked phone or one without a SIM :)

We keep an old cdma phone charging in the car just in case. It's not even hooked up but you can call 911 on it if you have to.

Well in that case, maybe a $15 Text only plan with no call display or voicemail with the standard per minute rate of .45c per minute?

I'm being totally honest here if someone really can't afford even the $20 Talk & Text, they need to make a new budget...

It has nothing to do with having the money or not Jonathan... He is a rare phone speaker but a heavy txt messenger and is giving an idea to which he thinks would be beneficial to both Koodo and koodoists...

What I am getting at, I find it counter-productive that people shut down other people's ideas with sophistry. I see it a lot on this forum and people should learn the three basic rules of dialoguing...

I realize that you were requesting something with the tab, but another option is prepaid. $15 per 30 days gets you unlimited text and picture messaging, plus you still get voicemail, call display, call waiting, and conference calling. Adding a talk booster(which do not expire on an active acct) any talk minutes you use will cost you $0.20/min, $0.10/min or $0.05/min depending on which booster you buy

Now for the suggestion at hand, Sportskid, don't you think it would take an eternity for those customers to pay off their tabs or are you just suggesting that this would be offered to people that either outright purchase the phone or bring your own device type of thing ?

Frankly, I don't understand the fuss here - you can get the $15 prepaid plan which offers just that: unlimited text. Then buy just one booster... valid till 2060... if ever you need to make a call it would be only 5 cents per minute (or 25c if you buy the cheapest booster) per minute. If you make one call every few months you may never need to buy another booster again :D

I wish too the base plan was $10 instead of $15 (I know, I know, I said that 3 times now!) which would fulfill OP's every wish - but hey, we can't have everything we want :D

Teasing!!!

PS You get get a text-only (dumb) phone for as little as $75 refurbished, and if you look on eBay etc, you will be able to find them even cheaper :)

He's just suggesting that you can get a phone on the tab and texting, so basically a loan from Koodo to get the phone and pay for just texting I'm guessing. Just save up the money for the phone (which you can get any phone Koodo carries on prepaid anyways) and go with prepaid. Getting a loan for a prepaid phone from a company isn't going to happen because like said above paying off such a thing would take forever. This doesn't really make sense.

150 months or 12.5 years. That is a long time to pay off a tab.

Exactly, not feasible in the slightest in anyone's opinion..... well anybody else's besides the OP lol

Just buy yourself a cheap second hand feature phone or android or iphone on ebay and go prepaid and have at it.

You can get those dirt cheap chinese phones with extra powerful antennas as a backup. I get reception with those phones in places where my Note 2 or even my Sonim don't have any bars at all.
