Unlimited Canada + U.S. Coverage

I'm happy with my Canadian plan, but live close to the U.S. border and also travel there regularly. When close to the border, I have to be very careful that my phone doesn't start roaming (which sometimes means turning off data...even though I'm still in Canada).

Other carriers are starting to provide plans that include U.S. talk, text, and data (without having to do a monthly add-on that provides very little).

Is there a plan for Koodo to provide unlimited coverage when in Canada AND the U.S.?

You can switch your carrier on your phone from automatic to Koodo. This will prevent any unexpected roaming while in Canada

So as long as we are traveling in Canada, any incoming call is as if it is from Canada!

Yes, only if you have a Canada-wide plan

Otherwise, replace "Canada" with "my city"

currently looking to change providers. Very interested in Koodo! however my husband is in the US very often he would need a North American plan something that covers both Canada and the US without having to pay 200$ a month and some! Do you have anything that could help?

Check out the long distance add-ons you can add to any of Koodo's regular plans

Unlimited incoming from infinity & beyond $10. Unlimited outgoing to US from Canada $10. Both valid as long as you are in Canada.

On Android: Settings=>More networks=>Mobile networks=>Network operators (it may take some time to scan all available networks)=> To avoid roaming, switch your network preferences to Koodo only, as Dennis said above.

Canadian presence 100% covered for $20 a month.

Next time you are in US, buy yourself a Tracfone at any Dollar Store. Will cost about $80 a year. Minutes don't expire quickly. Canadian long distance very reasonable, but use exclusively in US --- no Canadian roaming. I keep a flip phone in my glove box for the odd time I really need a phone during short US trips. No need to buy an add-on for unknown amount of time. Avoid the temptation to forward calls from Koodo to Tracfone because it can get expensive. But if you are in a situation where you need to stay in touch with a limited number of people, on a sporadic basis, this would be my way to go.

so you use the flip phone when you are the US only?

Koodo now switched to prepaid (no roaming). One phone for each country.

Flip phone now upgraded to Tracfone Android LG Ultimate II refurb which cost $20 US, so same Google contacts, apps etc. on both phones.

Tracfone US => Canada long distance now uses normal airtime, no surcharge.

My main number is with a Voip service (CallCentric) so all calls are set to simultaneously ring at home and one or both cells.

A little but of work and expense to set up initially, but $35 a month gets me all the service I need both sides of the border.
