Hello, I just joined koodo today, and I was told that I can have free unlimited data for 10 days. I just want to make sure that the unlimited data is really unlimited and free of charge. I don't want to be surprised at the end of my billing cycle. So if I used 5 Gb, will it still be free of charge?

There is nothing official about this, so it is to be done at your own risk. The idea behind it is to gauge how much data you would really need without incurring overages to the new customer. It is not intended to be abused.

You no doubt had to sign up for SOME plan when you got the phone. As Dennis states, the first 10 days are a cushion: if you are not happy within reasonable limits, you can return your phone few days later.

I wouldn't want to be in anyone's shoes who signed up for a minimum plan and spent the first 7 or 8 days binge watching Netflix or downloading 5 gig worth of maps for Navigator.
