I am new (3 days) to this, and I see a new icon on screen today. Looks like a cellphone with a crossed-off circle. The phone seems to work ok, so it doesn't mean no service, which is what the woman at *611 said. What does it mean?

What kind of phone do you have? Sounds like it might be some kind of silent indicator (meaning no sound), but knowing what model/phone you have is going to help us find out for you.

It is the LG A341 model

Ok I'll do some searching and see what I can turn up.

Is this the icon you're seeing?

Thanks. I've already been thru the A340 and A341 user guides, but could not find this icon in either one.

Sorry edited my post above around the same time you posted this. I'm doing what I can on Google and found that image in a Samsung user guide but want to make sure it's what I'm searching for.

I did find something that you could try. It says it's for LG phones. I'm not sure if all of these options exist on yours but they could help us get a description for what the icon is.

Instructions
1
Open the phone and click the “Menu” button.

2
The center keypad above the numerical keys can click up, down, left and right. Click right until you see the “Settings & Tools” option.

3
Scroll to “Phone Info.” Click “OK.”

4
Click “Icon Glossary.” You should see a list of all the icons featured on your particular model.

Ok, tried that. The Phone Info contains lots of things, but nothing like Icon Glossary. Would knowing the hardware version (1.0) or software version help?

Not really, my google searches are coming up pretty empty (Most of us on here are not employees but customers like yourself). I'll keep searching for a bit, but it may be easier to stop by the Koodo shop next time you're near one and see if they can help you out as well. (Telus offers this phone as well so someone at one of their stores may know too).

Your volume is turned up correct (not something I found on google just a question).

Ok thanks. I will go back to Best Buy and Koodo tomorrow. The volume goes from 1 to 7 and I have it set at 5.

Ok perfect was worried it was maybe muted. As long as it seems to be working fine you should be ok, when you tested it did you try both incoming and outgoing calls?

Yes I did. It's strange that there's a warning of some sort yet all seems to work ok. Since it's our first cellphone, there's lots to learn without having these weird things on just the 3rd day!!

Yeah for sure! I'm pretty confident some setting just got flipped but 30ish mins of searching in and I have yet to come across what it could be, and without owning that particular model of phone myself it doesn't help me try to figure it out either!

Make sure you post back on here what it was once you get it figured out so we know for next time :).

Have you tried to reset the phone by pulling the battery out and putting it back in? Out of the symbols I have seen I am picturing a symbol for the phone being on silent on one work phone I used in the past or else the symbol saying pretty much thay you won't be able to make calls or have no service.

In the past I've had a few of these symbols not go away even when I came into service and could make calls or adjusted the volume. A hard reset of pulling the battery, waiting a couple seconds, and putting it back in might do the trick to just reset the symbol.

Or else I would just stick to what you were going to do and visit a booth.

I hadn't thought of doing that. Just like a computer reboot. Just tried it, and nothing changed. Thanks anyway!

Follow Up -- I bought the phone at Best Buy, so I returned there for assistance today. The first staffer was baffled, but the second one continued experimenting and eventually got the mystery icon to disappear by changing my display wallpaper!! I had changed it to one of the several choices supplied by LG and all was OK when he changed it to something else. To make matters more interesting, when I got home, I changed it back to my choice and the icon hasn't reappeared. Very Weird, to say the least. Thanks Jordan and Jasper.

I definitely wouldn't have figured to change wall papers. Glad to hear everything worked out.
