Unexpected US Roaming Charges

I'm going to the states for a total of 5 days and want to take my phone just for an emergency. I looked at the roaming charges and add-ons koodo offers and was thinking I would go for pay-per-use. Before I do anything though I want to know if I'm going to get charged just by having my phone on (not on airplane mode), even if i never make a call, use data, or send a text.

ex. If I sent 1 text, I would only get charged $5.

There are no charges just to have your phone on.

And so if you sent one text it'd cost 5$ and then you could send 99 more texts.

Incoming texts are free

Even if your phone is on and you never use it, I would strongly recommend turning off data as it can easily update in the background.

Hello Natalie.

Also keep in mind that your phone MIGHT use data if you haven't turned data roaming off. So before leaving, make sure this option is disabled. Usually it's supposed to be off by default.

Thanks guys! I always keep my data disabled unless it's an emergency so that won't be a problem.
