how to turn off the Koodo text "heads up" that they're going to do automatic top Up, and the monthly one that announces my automatic credit for auto top up.

I'll see if anyone using prepaid can answer your question.

The Koodo texts come from a premium short number.

I used to kvetch big time because their script writers lacked a certain, shall we say, delicatesse. The messages always made you feel you were about to be cut off summarily unless you smartened up. Then a few days later, they sent you a message of forgiveness because you had coughed up, even though you were on auto payments.

In the last few months the messages have been a lot more customer-oriented, even polite. I personally prefer to receive these texts because, on auto pay, every now and then you can skip a top-up because of the 10% credit you're accumulating. I view it more as an invitation to check out your account. Examine usage, etc. to make sure everything is clicking along just fine.

Of course, opinions vary, but you imagine the !@#$torm that would be released if they didn't send texts saying your balance needs a contribution and then cut off your service.

Sophia, I believe that it was mentioned that you shouldn't be receiving those texts at such an hour. Does it still happen?

Mine arrive between 9 am and 1 pm. From "5186" for the reminder 3 days ahead and from "611" when the renewal is processed.

Carl, you can always block texts from the number that Koodo uses to text you the information but then if you forget or there is a problem with your card then you may not find out until your service is put on hold. In the grand scheme of things, it is a nuisance, I agree, but not a big enough deal to block.

Thanks for the replies.

When I called 611 they told me they can only turn off ALL texts from Kudoo, not just these superfluous ones. I could block texts from that # from my side, with the same result. If payment didn't go through or so, I would not get message. I guess that's what you get with a discount provider. Otherwise the service and pricing is quite satisfactory. I am just turning off the "New Message" alert sound, so we won't be bothered with that. Most of the time we don't receive texts anyway.
