Hi all,

I'm in the US and am confused about how this all works. My mom uses Koodo and loves it, so I don't want to move her off there. She recently got a Galaxy S3 with Medium Tab (I think) because she couldn't afford what she really wanted, the iPhone 5S or 6.

I would like to get her an iPhone 5S or 6 through Koodo and her current plan, but I'm not sure what to do. Does she trade in her current phone? Do I pay it off for her? What steps does she have to take? Is it possible to enlist the help of my stepfather, who as far as I know isn't on her plan, to help do the work so she doesn't have to?

I just want to be able to upgrade her as easily (for her) as possible. Thanks so much in advance <3

The best way to is buy the phone direct from Apple Canada and it can be delivered to her home and the phone will be unlocked for her to use with Koodo or any carrier.

This way there is no need to mess with her account or pay off her tab and sign her up with another tab. Koodo does not even need to be involved since there is no financial benefit to involve Koodo.

Regarding her recent S3 phone, if it is within 15 days then I would advise that she return the phone during the refund period. Otherwise the best option is to sell the phone via kijiji or craigslist

The problem with that is that then she has to buy the phone full price through Apple and that is $700+. It sounds like she is looking for a way to put her on a similar tab plan with the iPhone through Koodo.

I'll be watching this thread since I've a similar question.

There is no difference costs in paying off her mom's remaining tab (basically the full amount since she recently got it) and then putting the iphone on the same tab and then paying everything that exceeds the tab.

So she would pay off the Tab ($300), then put the $700 iphone on a $300 tab and pay $400. That still adds up to $700 at the end of the day
