Trying to figure out bill after new phone purchase.

Last week, I purchased a new phone at the Koodo kiosk in the mall and this week my bill arrived with a few additional line items.

Equipment Exchange: $10 - I bought a new phone and sim card (due to the size change). No exchange took place.

Tab Charge: $15 - This is normal except that is occurs twice, in addition to the Tab Payoff. Checking my tab balance shows that only one went against my balance though.

Add-Ons - I opted in for the Koodo Phone Protection and the cost for the full month is listed as well as a partial charge for the 21st to the 27th. The bill indicates that this is for Dec 28, 2017 - Jan 27, 2018. Why is this duplicated?

You bought a new SIM card, changed your old one for a new one, therefore a 'equipment exchange'.
Without seeing your bill it's hard to say. One of the $15 tab charges could have been from your previous phone but since you paid it off it shows on your bill funny. You said in the end it isn't affecting you though so that's good.
I assume you bought the new phone on the 21st? So you got charged for the days used in the remainder of that billing cycle, plus next month, (as you always pay a month in advance).

The agent told me he'd throw in the SIM and that I'd usually have to pay $15 for it. So they usually charge you $15 for the SIM and $10 for exchanging it? Sounds hokey to me.

Didn't say the double tab charge wasn't affecting me. They've taken $30 and applied $15 against my tab.

If you pay for the Add-Ons a month in advance, it should really indicate that on the bill as the bill is clearly for the month previous.

Woops, mixing up my prices. Did you get your content from your old phone transferred to the other? That would be a $10 charge. If you can't figure it out you can send Koodo a message via facebook and they can look into it for you

The way you worded it made it sound like they charged you twice but credited you back one. Like I mentioned though, if you hadn't finished paying off your previous phone than you would have a $15 charge from your old tab + the remaining tab payoff + $15 tab charge for the new phone.

The way Koodo bills (and all carriers I believe) on postpaid is you always pay the month in advance plus any overages from the month before. The bill itself is dated for the overages on page 3, at the top it has the dates for the month in advance.

@Todd: regarding the Tab charges, you could click on the Tab balance and see how much left. If you were charged for 2 months: the Tab balance should be (for Tab Medium) 360-15-15 = -330.

If you changed your plan with the phone upgrade, I would suggest you check the page 3,4 of your pdf bill. You could also post a snapshot of it here (delete all personal information before posting).

I was looking at the bill through the online portal. In viewing the PDF, I can see the add-on is billed ahead as Allan indicated.

Still don't understand the $10 charge though or the Tab math.

I saw a credit of $25 on the page 4 of your bill. I think it was there to compensate for the $10 and $15, that you were thinking of. It could be issues with Koodo system, and the agent worked around to make it fair for you.

No. He offered the $25 to make the protection plan more palatable.

Then I am not sure. I would suggest you call Koodo or contact them through facebook to ask about the detail of charge and dispute.
