I was told before I signed up with Koodo that there was a $45/mth plan for the US but the store assistant didn't know anything about it. Can you confirm that this plan exists?

Its an add-on rather than a plan and the most updated info I know is that you need to speak with a rep to get it added and you must have it for more than one month. The add-on has talk text and I forget how much data. You can send a private message to Koodo via Facebook Messenger or DM via Twitter to get it added.

Thanks Goran; where can I find a description of this add-on on Koodo's website?

You cannot. IIRC unlimited talk to Canadian and US numbers, international text, and 750MB data in the US. You'll have to ask the rep if that's what it still is.

Facebook isnt a live chat. It can take a little while for them to respond and they only operate during regular koodo call center hours.

I have heard there are some US plans that you can call in to get but not sure the $45 one is available. They want you to use Easy Roam now.

If you know the approximate consumption pattern you will need, switching to prepaid may be of value to you. Pay only for the minutes & data you need with no per diem charge. The baseplan is $15 a month and US boosters are listed separately.

Living near the border and not necessarily able to predict exactly when I will need coverage, I find this to be a much more civilized arrangement than paying a daily charge the minute someone calls you.

If Koodo still has a long-term US plan, your monthly Cdn minutes and data will be useless to you, and the minutes and data offered may cost even more than what you would use on prepaid.

One drawback: to do a prepaid switch, you will have to settle any existing tab balance on your phone, and if you return to postpaid, you will have to choose from plans that exist at that time.
