I'm going to Holland for a few weeks How can I use my iPhone 5s there without incurring roaming charges, or at least cut them down by 90% ;-) .

I still want family to be able to reach me and have a phone myself to use all the handy gadgets that it has for traveling, Heck that's what I paid for right !
but I don't want to see the 100's of $ in roaming charges at the end of my trip!

BEST thing is have Koodo unlock your phone ($35) and buy a local prepaid SIM card... as it happens I'm in Holland right now and I'm using one of the several budget providers as well. Have a look at "Aldi Talk" from Medion Mobile, there are Aldi stores all over Holland and their rates are pretty good: Not sure if they have nano SIM cards though, you'd have to ask.
But I believe "Hema" and "Kruidvat" and most grocery stores sell SIM cards as well... or spend a little more and buy a mobile phone including SIM card (and usually some free credit) from the "Kijkshop". Choices enough!

If you speak the language, you can compare here:

PS I'm using Simyo which is beyond excellent, but unfortunately you need a Dutch address for them to send it to, as well as a Dutch bank account to top up.
