I am travelling to Asia, and wanted to use my Galaxy S5 on wifi connection. Would just turning off mobile data be enough to make sure I dont incur any charges. Also how do you prevent text and calls from getting through? Thanks in advance

I'd recommend removing your SIM card. There is zero chance of accidental charges that way. Or use airplane mode with Wifi on.

Airplane mode disables all connections including wifi so I dont recommend that.

You can re-enable Wi-Fi when Airplane mode is enabled, been that way for years on Android.

I would recommend simply turning off Data and Data Roaming, you will not be charged roaming unless you answer/make calls or send texts. You are not charged for incoming sms so i don't recommend airplane mode since you wont be able to receive sms, since incoming sms is free you dont have to worry about that and plus you never know if someone needs to send you an important sms. Outgoing sms are 0.60$ each so outgoing isnt too costly.
