Traveling to MX with unlocked phone. If I keep my Cdn plan (it's a good one) I don't intend on using it. Would buy MX SIM and a pay as you go MX plan will I incur further expenses some how on my Cdn plan?

Hi Linda,
If you want to use a Mexico plan. You could take out the Canadian SIM when you leave Canada, and put it back when you come back. By doing that, there won't be any roaming charges from your Mexico trip.
so actually the SIM cards are connected to their respective plans?  Buy using a MX SIM I am not using my Cdn plan..  and the useable functions on my phone in MX are tied to the pay as you go plan I choose in MX ?

Think of your SIM as your ATM card (it's the Subscriber Identification Module). Your plan(s) are tied to it ust like your bank accounts, no matter what point-of-service (ATM machine or phone handset) you use.

Yes, the SIM provide information for the phone to connect to whichever networks.

As long as your phone is unlocked and compatible with MX network, you will be fine with the MX prepaid

You will have to keep paying the base rate for the Canadian plan though, even if you aren't using it.
