The phone must be unlocked, just insert the sim and your good to go.

Thanks PZABOY, but the phone is unlocked... just won't let me register on the Koodo site or add my Sympatico POP account.

have you added the APN settings to the new phone?

To add to this, in order to have outbound emails working you must connect to cellular internet (as Marcel said, make sure the APN is correct) and have Telus/Koodo's outbound server, which is smtp.telus.net, configured manually into your email settings.

What phone are you using?

I am replacing a BB Curve 9320 with an unlocked Bold 9900, onto an existing Koodo BB account with a 2GB data package. The SIM card seems to be working because the phone works; I just can't add my Sympatico POP account. I ensured WIFI is turned off, and also tried changing the phone registration on the Koodo site, but it asks for the 'new SIM #', and won't accept the old #, saying that it's already used.

I was told by the Koodo agent that all I had to do was transfer the SIM, but seems to be more to it than that!
Thanks for the input ...

Well you definately don't need to register the phone or the SIM. From what you're saying the SIM is already registered and the phone is only registered if it doesn't use a SIM.

Are other internet functions working? If so, make sure that all the incoming server settings match those of your sympatico account and that the outbound server is smtp.telus.net and it should work.

I'm not sure how, but with the SIM in the 9320, I set the APN to blackberry.com (no credentials), then entered SETUP to check the email account, but it said it wasn't registered. So, I went into the HRT and re-registered the device. I then transfered the SIM back to the 9900, and immediately got messages reporting that emails are no longer being sent to the 9320, and that the sympatico.ca account had been succesfully set up! So, it somehow magically started working (maybe because of the APN setting?) Anyway, thanks to everyone for the input and direction.
Much appreciated...

The proper apn for a bb would be bb.koodo.com, but as long as it's working I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

If you wish to transfer your sim card to non koodo phone means, your phone must be unlocked one.If it's network locked, you will need to unlock it.For unlocking you can approach your service provider or else try to buy an unlocking service from any one of the online unlocking service provider like http://www.unbblock.com/blackberry/rs...
