Transfer account from one family member to another.

Hi

I looked for the answer and couldn't find it so......

My son has his plan on his grandfather's koodo account and we want to transfer it to our account. He wants to keep his number but have it on our account.

Do we have to go in store to do this?

Hello Moonsocket,

What you are trying to do is called a transfer of ownership. Since the account is under someone else's name, the account owner needs to call us in first (1-866-995-6636) and initiate the transfer. All he has to do is say that he wants the phone to be put under your son's name, and we will enter his name in the appropriate section in the account.

To be able to initiate the transfer, the account has to have been active for more than 90 days and needs to be in good standing (no past due). Once the transfer is initiated, your son will have 10 days to call us back and complete the transfer. We will do a credit check with him over the phone (http://koo.do/LRgn8M) and if everything goes through, the line will be transferred from his grandfather's name to your son's name :)

We are putting his phone on our account. Would it be done the same way? We are pre-approved for a 3rd line.

Grandfather(the current owner) have to call Koodo first to initiate release your son's number.  ( Not cancel, porting out his line to the other Koodo owner(you))
Then you call Koodo to add his line under your account. There will be $10 fee for this process -Transfer of owner ship.
(I would call Koodo before grand father and tell them to make sure you want to port in your son's line from grandfathers account

Your son can keep his number, but I don't think he can keep his current plan.
Because he is as subscriber under grandfather and he will be under  your subscriber...

You and grand father can dial *611 from your Koodo phone. (It doesn't use your minutes)
