Too many spam calls per day

Hello, in the past, I got some spam calls once in awhile but recently sometimes 5-10 such calls per day anytime in the day and night. This is getting annoying. Usually these calls are from: soomaaliya (+252 64648027 with the last 1 or 2 digits changed), Burundi (+257 61 40 54 96 with the last two digits changed), Seychelles (+248 999933) and anonymous. Is there a way to block these calls from calling? Perhaps somehow make a setting not to accept any phone call from phone with +252, +257 and +248 calls? I am using an iPhone.
Am I correct that it is more difficult to deal with anonymous as that could be anybody?

Usually they just ring once and disconnected.

Thanks. Is there a free app for iPhone? I think WideProtect costs money.

What is the purpose for such ring-once-and-hang-up calls? What do those bad guys try to accomplish?

You could try some free blocking app in ios like  Mr.Number or Hyia (from the same developer).
I think they wanted you to call them back and try to charge long distance fee.

Installed Mr. Number but still getting one call. Usually they change the last two digits.

Try blocking calls from unknown/private numbers that would eliminate some of them. If it get unbearable, I'd thing about chain my number.

PS Have you put your number somewhere on internet? IG, YouTube, FB?

One warning re private numbers: police, hospitals and other govt and para-govt agencies' calls are sometimes labelled as private, so you might suffer some unintended consequences.

Having thought about that... When you refuse all calls, do they go to VM?

What is VM?
I checked IG, YouTube and FB. I don't have my number listed.

Mr.Number and Hyia do not seem to allow blocking of certain country codes. Is that right?

His first post in this thread(after yours) mentions wide protect. He wants a free app. Wide protect costs $2.99. Pretty good deal compared to what Mr Number wants for their premium version. Looks like Allan suggestion should work for him and still be free with Mr Number.

If it doesnt work, then the adage rings true that you get what you pay for.  The previous poster tried the free options and it seems none of them stick.

A 1-time fee may be may the the cost for peace of mind.  At least it is not a recurring  fee

I gave up and purchased WideProtect. I entered 252, 248 and 257 under Block numbers starting with. Then, under Settings->Phone->Block calls and ID, I see a long list:

WideProtect-3
WideProtect-8
WideProtect-1
WideProtect-15

:
:

What are they? Am I supposed to turn on each of these?

This was the review that Ron left in the Robocall Hell post. From the image it sounds like you need to enable each one to enable a block of numbers to enable

From the app store link..

Don't forget to give permissions:
- to block numbers to all 15 WideProtect extensions through iPhone Settings: Phone: Call Blocking & Identification.
- to filter SMS and MMS to WideProtect extension through iPhone Settings: Messages: Unknown & Spam.
