I really think it has to do with population density and network congestion. Ontario has the largest population density so I feel koodo doesn't want the network clogged 24/7 with streaming etc. My opinion only

I think it is due to additional competition from MTS in Manitoba and SaskTel in Saskatchewan

Dennis is bang on. Competition, same as Quebec.

That's all it ever really comes down to, competition or lack thereof, and it's why we need more of it in Ontario.

Well if I was a betting man, i would say if Koodo was going to be fair on the pricing, they wouldn't be lowering the plan cost for the rest of Canada but increasing it for those 2 provinces.

So them getting a discount is good for them, not bad for you.

But yeah it does suck to see those great plans and not be able to use them

It's pure evidence that it's bull when the big 3 say competition coming to Canada will do nothing good for customers and customers won't benefit from it at all. Really then why are the areas with low cost competition driving prices down in those areas for all carriers, hummm. If the big 3 and their subsidiaries would drop prices on their own without competition forcing them to it would cause competition to not even look into moving to Canada or at least customers not crying for these changes.

That was the goal of the Harper government. They wanted to add a 4th national carrier in areas where a regional carrier was not there to provide competition as a 4th carrier.

The intent was great but the execution not so much. During the industry's infancy, the government helped subsidize wireless technology. I think it's only fair for the the incumbents to be subsidized by the big 3 so that carriers like Wind and Mobilicity get national coverage. I mean in Europe sharing of towers is pretty much standard. It is inefficient and costly to build multiple towers to provide coverage for the same areas for each of the different carriers.
