Very disappointing. Can't move old tab to new tab and get new plan . So existing customers are out of luck re $45 1G promo

Just pay off your Tab

As Koodo knows, those of us with Tabs have them for a reason--I prefer to space the payment for the hardware over a period of months. Obviously Koodo expects many customers to prefer that in future as well -- hence the new tab. But the only way to get a new plan is to get *rid of the tab. * Which seems contradictory to me

No, the only way to upgrade to a new plan is to pay off your existing tab, then when you're ready you can take this new tab.

Actually, no. The only way to get the $45/1G plan is to pay off the tab by May 3. Not available after that. Existing customers who aren't ready to pay off tab immediately are out of luck, and deal ends May 3, so not available later (ie when current tab is paid)

The $45 is a special promotional offer intended mostly to attract customers to Koodo from other providers.

Call In I just switched to that promo plan. I did have no tab so yes you have to pay it off. it is worth it in the long run.

But with the new tab structure you are paying for your own phone regardless, there will be no more Koodo contribution to your tab balance. On my current plan, that's $8.50 each month that i'll be missing out on, plus will have to pay my own extra $15 per month. Do the math... 45 + 15 = $60 plus the $8.50 I'm missing out on. Not impressed, prompting me to shop and move my 3 phone lines to another provider.

I think the thing that most people aren't realizing, is that you were still kind of paying that 8.50. Yes Koodo took it from what you were paying for your plan, but you still paid for your plan. Now the plans are discounted so that 8.50 gets put in with the tab charge. And once your tab is paid off it ALL drops off automatically. Before once you were paid off only the $5 or $10 dropped off automatically, whereas now, you stop paying anything for the phone automatically. So once your tab is paid off your bill would drop $15 instead of just the $5.

Don't upgrade to the new tab plans then. You still have a choice. If you ever want a new phone you will have to buy one outright. There are many older or mid range devices that are affordable. Don't expect to get an Htc one M9 and complain because you have to pay for it.

I was told today by a koodo kiosk & by phone to koodo that paying off my tab made no diffetence & my Wife has a postive tab that the only way to change to the new plans was to upgrade our phones which I just did a few months ago. Not real happy right now.

Hey, it worked for me. I called in but they tried to give me the run around about how I'm looking at Quebec pricing. Just tell them over the phone that you can't change it in self serve and that you no longer owe anything on your tab. You should be able to change you plan no problems. Also the last few times I've called in seems like most reps on the phone are new or act like they have no clue. Read up on the facts on the site, so you can back up your request. Cheers

Gary, In order to get one of the new plans, you must pay off your tab. Whoever told you different is wrong. If you have positive tab you can use that in the future towards a new device. You do not have to upgrade your phone to choose from the new plans once your tab is paid.

Called in again today about switching to the new plans & the rep I talked to either received more training or paid attention, I was able to switch to what I wanted for our two lines no problem. Am happy again.

Koodo doesn't give you the 10% off of your monthly plan anymore when you have your own phone and want to switch to any of the new plans...! Very disappointed! It is not fair for the existing costumers who want to enjoy the new plans like we have before. Bad decisions Koodo...

That's because the new plans all have the discount built in to them. Hence why they are cheaper.
