Do you have any sort of discounts on your plan?
Could you take a screenshot of page 3 of your pdf ebill leaving out any personal info so we can help out. Do you happen to see any extra charges?

I will try to take screenshot. My bill is $50 plan. Plus $12 for tab, minus $12.50 employee discount. Total is always $49.50, with hst at $6.43. This month, same charges/credits but hst added was $8.06.

They're charging tax before the discount now instead of after. Same thing happened to me this month.

Great! So nice of them! I looked through website and they didn't mention that. Thanks very much for helping me figure it out.

I don't see any mention of it anywhere. There was something in the news. Apparently its a revenue canada thing, not a Koodo thing.

If this is something that affects everyone who receives a discount you would think they would say something, either on website or by email. It's not that hard!

@Allan,
The link you provided relates to employee discounts being an Income Tax-related benefit, not sales tax. However, I believe, parallel to that, carriers have been given direction that certain forms of discounts are not sales tax exempt, either.

Similar questions are being asked on the Telus side as well.

same thing happened to me. appears i have been charged 16% tax. but i do have a discount on my plan. its a $60 plan and a discount brings it down to $45/month

my total before taxes is $45. $45 plus 12% tax is $50.40 (this is what I'm used to paying)

it looks like i have been charged my $45 but taxed on $60....
$45 + (12% of $60) = $52.20 (this is my latest bill)

going to email koodo now.

will our bill be adjusted or is this the new monthly charge of 16% tax?

Afaik, if you were a part of this error you will receive a credit on your next bill to compensate for it.

I just got notification that my next month's bill is available and no compensation was included.  Any idea when the over payment will be reimbursed?

Yes, it works out...my monthly $50 plus $12 tab equals $62 and the $8.06 I was charged this month is 13% of $62.

Why would they charge you tax on an amount you actually did not pay? ...

Update: Koodo is working on a fix so things should be corrected sometime soon!
