The amount on my bill is wrong. What can I do to fix it?

I've just received my first bill with Koodo and I'm already seeing a problem. My plan is supposed to come to $55 per month. My bill says I owe $66. Taxes are written below this and the other charges (witch are correct), so I doubt that's the problem. What can I do to fix this? I've been told there is a service charge for calling, so is there any other way I can solve this? Or is calling in my only option?

Hi Stephanie,

It is due to pro-ration. Take a look at the video bellow for more info, let me know if you have any questions afterwards.

I see. That makes a lot of sense actually. Thank you for the info

Stephanie, glad to see you came here! It's an awesome place to get answers to just about anything. Can I please ask a question? Just curious to understand really....if you think back, looking at your invoice, what was it that you think triggered the assumption that we did something wrong? Did you have bad experiences with another carrier in the past?

I wasn't aware of pro- ration at first, so I was a little thrown off when I saw that the amount I was originally told I'd be paying and the amount on my bill didn't quite match up. Now I understand the reason, but I assumed it was some sort of mistake at first. I suppose this is due to misunderstanding on my part. This is only the second phone company I've been with, and I didn't experience pro-rating or anything like that. All I experienced back then was a terrible student plan and a lot of overcharging. So I suppose the answer to my question is technically nothing, seeing as it wasn't an issue to begin with. That's fine by me. I'm glad there isn't actually a problem.

Thanks for the insight Stephanie! In that case we didn't do our job as well as I would have hoped. Pro-ration is something that occurs for every one on their first bill and the rep at the Koodo store you were at should have mentioned it at the end of the purchase. We even created a bill calculator to approximate what your first bill would come to. It's unfortunate if that wasn't shared with you. :-(

I'm willing to bet it was an unintentional oversight. The rep who worked with me was extremely helpful and was very thorough with the other information that she gave me. If this was the one thing she happen to forget, I'm glad it was something small and easy to figure out.
