I recently got a new phone as my old Kodoo phone had broke. The guy at the store promised that I would be able to continue to stay with my $15 base plan and $5 unlimited texting add-on, which is all I want as I do not use data/ call people. However, when I got home, I received an email from Kodoo stating that the add-on had been removed. Now, I am confused about my plan which is the $15 Canada-wide plan. Does it have unlimited texting or will I now have to pay for another plan with unlimited texting???

Go into your self serve and check your add ons. It's not like koodo to remove a feature from your account without you changing your plan.

Could you post the text of the email without your personal information so we can get an idea of how it's written.

My add ons no longer have unlimited texting. The email says You've recently changed your Koodo services. On January 12, 2014, you changed the following services. And then in a box, it says Removed and Unlimited Messaging. Price per month: $5.00. Service effective on September 04, 2011.

I'd double check your self self account. Based off what you are stating the store made some changes on your account without your discretion. If you're not sure I'd call in to customer service to see what changes were made to your account.

I called in already and they told me that they no longer offer the unlimted texting addon and that I would have to get one of their new plans. However, if I call in again and ask about the changes made to my account, do you think that they will put the add- on back on my plan?

If you change your mind about the prepaid I would call Koodo again and tell them how it makes no sense for you to remove only that add on and clearly the store made an error. U are only asking for the error to be corrected. Speak with a manager if required.

I'm sure they can fix the error since it was no way your fault. They able to see that the change was made during a phone purchase.

Why don't you consider moving to prepaid, icefiremoon?
Since you don't call or use data, that would be $15 flat out for unlimited worldwide texting and you'd be cheaper off than you are now :)

You can add a talk booster for when you do need to make the occasional call!

That sounds like a good idea :) How would I change my plan to prepaid?? And how much is the talk booster?

Hey icefiremoon,

First, you have to cancel your current monthly service. If you have any outstanding tab balance, you'll have to pay that as well. Then you can pick up a Prepaid SIM card to activate a Prepaid Account.

The cheapest base plan is $15/month for unlimited texting (canada-wide), caller Id, voicemail, etc.

The talk boosters vary from different prices.

25 Minutes for $5
100 Minutes for $10
500 Minutes for $25

Obviously the 500 minute one is the best deal overall but if you know for sure, that you aren't going to use many minutes, you can settle for a low one!

The nicest thing about the boosters is that as long as your base plan is covered each month, any boosters you have don't expire until they're all used up.

Oh don't cancel your account! Port your number to prepaid instead!

Porting is so that you can keep your same number

\your account would need to be active and in good standing, and then you can switch to a prepaid SIM (I believe the cost of this is $20)

Ok, thank you :) I will probably do that. I just have one more question. What's the difference between the $15 Canada-wide plan that I have now and the prepaid $15 plan???

If I am correct, he $15 plan includes a few minutes each month... and you can roam outside of Canada and still use your phone for a hefty fee. Oh and you can't as easily forward calls on prepaid (though it works to some degree).

Apart from that, Prepaid is pretty awesome and includes voicemail, caller ID and conference calling without having to add those as an addon :D

DO NOT cancel your account if you wish to go to prepaid or you will lose your #. You can contact the prepaid department and they will move your # to prepaid. At which point whis will cancel your post paid account. The Koodo tab will be billed if any. A prepaid sim card would need to be purchased at $20 and you can activate online on the bottom page on koodomobile.com Click the "activate prepaid phone" on the bottom and follow the steps.

Open a prepaid account and port your current number might be better.

Add : $15 prepaid includes
Unlimited Messaging (Text and Picture)
•Voicemail
•Call Display
•Call Waiting
•Conference Calling
•International text messages sent and received anywhere in Canada

It's in order to keep your phone #. "Porting" means you're moving it one from one place to another. If you cancel your previous service, then the # is lost.

Will I have to pay off my phone tab?? Specifically, the amount I just paid for my new phone before switiching to prepaid?

Oops, sorry icefiremoon, I never thought about a possible Tab. Rocky is indeed correct, you'd need to pay the full amount for your phone - or return it within 15 days but I would imagine that would leave you without a phone :(

Yes the tab will be billed if you move your # to prepaid. Prepaid account aren't eligible to use the koodo tab.
