Text Message overcharge

i have many charges for sent messages, i'm supposed to have five essentials service but i can no longer find that option. and they're local messages, not long distance. I really need to talk to a person, but need a phone number to call from my landline so I don't burn up minutes!

Calling 611 does not burn any minutes but the wait times are horrendous.

You should be able to change your Five Essentials on self serve, but since I do not have this add-on I am unable to check for you.  What do you see when you log into self serve?

That option was removed from self serve and now can only be changed by contacting Koodo I believe.

Yes, there are no details on the Five Essentials, so I can't modify it or change anything. thanks for the 611 info, I'll try that tonight.

Are you referring to text messages or phone calls? Because the 5 essentials only ever applied to calling and not to text messaging.

@ Carol, looks like you are on a very old plan on that line. That plan only includes 50 text messages. Timo above is correct, Five Essentials only cover calls not text messages. 




You would really benefit from considering one of our newer plans that come with unlimited texts.

Note that all current Koodo plans for sale now include unlimited texts, so you would only be choosing the minutes or data that would suit your needs
